Kira is the lead vocalist and founder of 11Echo. She was recognized this year as a 2018 National YoungArts Foundation Finalist in Voice/Jazz Voice and Honorable Mention Winner in Voice/Popular Music, and a 2018 The Music Center Spotlight Semifinalist - Non-Classical Voice. Kira continues to develop as a musician at the Coast Music Conservatory studying voice, piano, music theory, songwriting, and is a member of m6, a jazz acappella choir. She enjoys all types of music, especially R&B, classic rock, jazz, and classical music. Kira's biggest musical influences are Ella Fitzgerald, Esperanza Spalding, Lauryn Hill, Ann Wilson (lead singer of Heart), and Josh Groban. Currently, Kira is a junior at Mira Costa High School. In her free time, you can find Kira visiting old bookstores or record stores, listening to her vinyl record collection, or reading a good book.
Max is a bass player who began his musical journey on piano at four years old. He started playing electric bass at eight and has performed in many popular kids bands including Crime Scene, The Frozen Sea Rabbits and Split Decision. Max started playing double bass at age eleven, and has performed with David Benoit’s Asia America Youth Orchestra and numerous jazz groups including No Jive, Cole 2 the Max, South Bay Jazz, and the Cole Marcus Trio. He was the first chair bassist in the Mira Costa High School Symphony and Chamber Orchestras. Both orchestras performed at Carnegie Hall earlier last year. He was selected and participated in Los Angeles Jazz Society’s Bill Green Mentorship program in the spring of 2016, and he is the winner of the Music Center’s 2016 Promise Award through the Spotlight scholarship competition. Max loved playing music in various groups including Mira Costa Orchestras, South Bay Jazz and 11Echo! Max is currently at the University of North Texas studying Jazz Bass. In his spare time, Max enjoys playing video games and hanging out with friends.
Cole is a pianist, auxiliary percussionist, and vocalist hailing from Hermosa Beach, California. Coming from a musical upbringing, he has found a love for a wide spread of musical genres. As a youngster, he was fed a steady diet of rock, straight ahead jazz, soul, funk, and fusion jazz music; all of which have contributed to his musical style. Specifically, bands such as Led Zeppelin, Return to Forever, and Earth, Wind & Fire have consistently been his go-to bands for inspiration. Riddle currently composes his own music which incorporates the sounds of his influences but spices it up with his own quirkiness. He is currently a junior at UCLA where he continues his love for music by studying Jazz Piano.
Justin attends the Orange County School of the Arts in Santa Ana where he is enrolled in the Commercial Music Conservatory. Inspired by the video game "Rock Band," Justin started taking drum lessons at age 7 and playing in bands since age 8. Through the instruction and guidance of his talented teachers, Gerry Gibbs and Taylor Kennedy, he has acquired an appreciation for a wide variety of rhythms including funk, rock, jazz and Latin. In addition to the drums, Justin enjoys playing the keys and bass.
At the age of 9 Ben and his grandfather decided to buy a guitar. Ben immediately fell in love with the instrument and has never looked back. In the early years he played with local kid bands Crime Scene, The Frozen Sea Rabbits, Aftershock and YMPA. Ben’s musical studies evolved and gravitated towards jazz under the guidance of John Storie, David Sills and Ken Harrison. While in high school, Ben played in the Concert Jazz Band at El Camino College. Currently Ben is a freshman at UCLA studying Jazz Guitar. Ben lists his musical influences as Wes Montgomery, Tom Misch and Jimmy Page. In his free time Ben enjoys surfing and skateboarding around the South Bay.
11Echo is an award-winning cover band that emerged onto the South Bay music scene over three years ago. They play classic rock, funk, R&B, and pop. All bandmates studied at Coast Music Conservatory in Hermosa Beach and range in age from 17-21. 11Echo was voted as the “Best Underage Band” in the Easy Reader/Beach Magazine Best of the Beach for three consecutive years in 2015, 2016 & 2017. Additionally in 2015, they won the Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair Battle of the Bands, were chosen to play at the Special Olympics in LA 2015, were one of three kid/teen bands selected to play as a Hermosa Beach Summer Concert Series opening act via KinectaRocks 2015, and they played Fiesta Hermosa over Labor Day weekend 2015 (the first teen band to ever play the event) and again over Memorial Day weekend 2017. The band has regularly performed at The Lighthouse Café and Suzy’s in Hermosa Beach.
